The bedroom is where you start and end each day, a place that’s meant to be both restful and inspiring. One of the most compelling ways to infuse a bedroom with character is to be fearless when trying new trends. “A bedroom gains depth, intrigue, and a uniquely vibrant personality that feels both curated and spontaneous when you allow different aesthetics to harmonize,” says Valentina De Santis, who led the bedroom renovations of the 18th-century Passalacqua hotel.
Ahead, design experts share their 2025 trend predictions for bedrooms. Whether you’re seeking serenity or something more lively, there’s something for everyone.
1. Moody Hues
Expect to see deeper, moodier bedroom colors in 2025. “A dark bedroom creates a warm, cocooning effect that enhances comfort and relaxation, making it the perfect sanctuary within a home,” says Becky Shea, creative director and founder of BS/D. “The way darker tones interact with light, softly refracting rather than reflecting it, creates a nurturing ambience, like being wrapped in a cozy, protective space.”
“Rich shades like chocolate brown, dusty plums, and inky blues will provide a sumptuous backdrop in bedrooms in the new year,” says Emily Vaughan, the owner of Emily Vaughan Interior.
“Colors will be moody, but in a comfortable way,” says Anna Kroesser, a partner and principal designer at Kroesser + Strat Design. “They’re not overtly dark, making them ideal for the bedroom where people want to hunker down and relax.”
2. Punches of Pattern
In 2025, bedrooms will be drenched in pattern. “A chintz textile will be the perfect choice when applying a single fabric to walls, windows, and furniture,” says Vaughan. Layers of traditional textiles set a serene stage. “Modern plaids and large florals paired with bold textures will be very popular in the new year,” adds Laura McKoy, creative director and vice president of interior design at Omni Hotels & Resorts.
3. Out-of-View Technology
“In 2025, bedrooms will serve as tranquil retreats, featuring minimal and often disguised technology,” says Tiffany Matthews, founder and designer at Motif Homes. Things like under-bed lighting, concealed speakers and charging stations, and foot-of-the-bed TV chests will keep electronics out of view.
“Our guests expect a flat-screen TV in every room, so we wanted to create a way to hide the TV so it didn’t take away from the room’s historic decor,” says De Santis. “Using a steamer trunk at the end of the bed was an ideal and unique way to meet our goal; gorgeous leather and wood trunks appeal to a vintage aesthetic while keeping modern technology out of sight.”
4. Prioritizing Wellness
We’ll see a shift towards bedrooms that highlight wellness and comfort in 2025. “Bedrooms are moving beyond just functional spaces for resting; they’re becoming deeply personal retreats designed to restore and inspire. In the new year, we’ll continue to incorporate calming sensory elements through curated art, layered textures, and adjustable lighting,” says Marie Cloud, owner/principal designer of Indigo Pruitt.
5. Simple Bedding
Characterized by clean lines and a focus on functionality over decoration, the monastic bed is on trend for 2025. “People don’t want to take a million pillows off their bed at night and then have to put them back on in the morning,” says Michael Fowler, creative director at Michael Fowler Creative. “We’ll be seeing simpler bedding that include a blanket, throw, and lumbar pillow—much easier to make and more chic to look at.”
“We’re moving away from excessive bedding and opting for a few bold moments—an oversized Euro pillow or a uniquely textured lumbar pillow—to keep the look sophisticated yet relaxed,” adds Laura Lubin, founder and principal designer at Ellerslie Interiors. “This balanced, intentional layering gives a bed a polished look without sacrificing comfort.”
6. Wall-to-Wall Carpeting
This once-popular floor covering is making a comeback. “Its soft feel underfoot is unbeatable plus using a single flooring material can make a small space feel larger,” says Vaughan. “A solid-colored wall-to-wall carpet in a saturated hue creates a bold, grounding statement, giving a bedroom a strong point of view.”
Wall-to-wall carpet both in natural and vibrant colors helps create a soothing bedroom. “It brings warmth and tactility that helps people feel safe and relaxed,” says Jamie Welborn, a senior vice president of residential carpet product development at Mohawk.
7. Personalized Aesthetics
Bedrooms will skew towards a more purposeful aesthetic in the new year, with designers filling bedrooms with furniture and accessories their clients have a connection to, colors with meaning, and textures that bring comfort. “It will be about personally reflecting the person who lives and sleeps in that room,” says Nadia Watts, owner/founder, Nadia Watts Interior Design.
8. Statement Headboards
Headboards in vibrant colors and whimsical shapes including arches and scallops, along with fabrics such as corduroy and tufted velvet, will be trending in 2025. “This is reflective of a shift away from traditional minimalism and towards a highly curated, personalized bedroom,” says Moshe Halberstam, interior designer at Vänt.
“Upholstered headboards in warm caramel leather or bright velvet in a vertical channel tuft will provide a sense of softness,” says Joelle Henning, senior designer at HBA San Francisco. They can also provide much-needed relief in a room filled with hard surfaces like wood, metal, glass and stone, adds Victoria Armour, co-owner of Stil James.
9. Ambient and Layered Lighting
Lighting in bedrooms will emphasize versatility and ambiance. “Dimmable, layered lighting with a combination of sconces, table lamps, and overhead fixtures will allow for various moods and functional needs,” says Cloud. Materials like textured and antique brass will lend a touch of vintage charm while ensuring the lighting feels soft and enveloping, adds Marker.
10. Purposeful Accessories
Carefully curated accessories that add character without clutter will be trending in 2025. “Accessories will be fewer in number and ideally handmade,” says Georgia Gourzela, an interior designer for Andronis. They’ll be intentional, with fewer but more meaningful pieces. “Think vintage finds, artisanal ceramics, and personal art collections,” says Cloud.
“In the new year, we’ll be focused on vignettes and pairing a few highly individual accessories to balance the overall room, rather than a more effusive look, which can come off cluttered,” says Piper Skillman, president of Piper Skillman.
11. Traditional Beds
Four poster, canopy, and spindle beds will be popular in 2025. “But they’re not the heavy wood monstrosities of the ’80s and ’90s, nor anything you would see in a Victorian-era television show,” says Fowler. “Today’s beds are being imagined in slender metals and less imposing and colorful woods.” Adds Galey Alix, designer and content creator at Galey Alix Design, “There’s something cozy and timeless about a bed with height to it.”
“Basically, we’ll be creating sanctuaries that feel like a deep breath after a long day by blending comfort with a sense of understated luxury,” says Lubin.
12. Earthy Elements
Organic and biophilic design will continue to influence bedroom aesthetics, blending clean, contemporary lines with natural, earthy elements. “Shades of clay, olive green, soft taupe, and mineral blue will add warmth and tranquility to a bedroom while fostering a sense of comfort,” says Vyanca Soto, owner and principal designer of Market Studio Interiors. “These colors are not only rich and inviting but also provide a versatile backdrop to enhance textures and finishes within the bedroom.”
Sage greens and earthy clay hues will also trend in 2025, says Kate Marker, the owner and principal designer at Kate Marker Interiors. “They create a peaceful, low-stimulation environment and pair beautifully with layered textures.”
Sustainability will also be a priority, with designers and homeowners choosing ethically sourced and eco-friendly textiles. Organic, textured fabrics like linen, bouclé, and cotton will be paired with rich textures like velvet, bringing a sense of authenticity and warmth. “Houseplants and natural elements like driftwood and woven baskets will continue to add organic touches to the bedroom,” says Cloud.
13. Hardworking Closets
A well-designed closet is a key bedroom consideration. “Closets are an extension of personal style and an essential element of a well-organized space,” says De Santis. “A thoughtfully designed closet allows you to move through your daily routine with ease when everything is accessible and beautifully arranged.”
In the new year, it won’t be about having more space, but about having the right space, including custom shelving, smart lighting, clever storage solutions, and finishes that make organization feel effortless. “It will be about making every inch of the closet work,” says Lubin.
“Walk-in closets will be dressed up with colorful paint, wallpaper, and whimsical light fixtures,” says Rebecca Roberts, founder and principal designer of Method + Moxie. They’ll also become more of a dedicated space that connects to the bedroom, with an increase in demand for tech integration like built-in charging stations and smart lighting, adds Armour.
14. Hints of Color
“Experimenting with colors that truly transform a space creates an immersive experience, inspiring feelings of joy, tranquility, and romance,” says De Santis. In 2025, the textural and tactile qualities of the neutral bedroom will be punched up a level with color. “Bedrooms will start to look more unique through the use of color as opposed to the soft white look-a-like bedrooms that have flooded our feeds as of late,” says Armour.
“We’ll be seeing neutral bedroom palettes with daring splashes of color dominating the bedroom scene in 2025,” agrees Jennifer Press, founder and principal designer at Press Interiors.
“We’ll also see more color drenching in bedrooms, a design technique where an entire room—walls, ceiling, woodwork, doors—is painted in a single color or a related palette of color,” adds Fowler. “Think jewel tones like deep blues, greens, and even deep purples, with the effect being like you’re enveloped in a warm hug.”
