If you love bold colours, make a statement throughout 2025 with Cherry Coded. Inspired by rich, dark cherry reds, this vibrant hue dominates moodboards and proves cherries aren’t just for cocktails.

‘High-gloss lacquered accessories are perfect for achieving this look,’ says Tom. ‘Try applying deep reds as the primary colour for your walls or large furniture pieces to create a rich and warm backdrop. Add pops of complementary colours to enhance the overall look; consider mustards, burnt oranges or deep greens as accent colours in small decor items.’

Pinterest’s latest search results show a craving for all things cherry:

  • Cherry vibe (+325 per cent increase in searches)
  • Dark cherry red (+235)
  • Cherry bedroom (+100)

3. Terra Futura: eco-forward aesthetics

Sustainability meets sci-fi with Terra Futura. This eco-living aesthetic draws inspiration from Solarpunk, an art movement that envisons a sustainable future where nature and technology are in harmony.

This trend is not just about saving the planet; it’s about reimagining what home can be. Pinterest has seen a surge in interest from Boomers and Gen Z alike, encouraging green, eco-conscious living with a touch of sci-fi magic.

‘Embracing biophilic design – a concept which seeks to enshrine nature in architecture and to ensure that humans are able to maintain a connection to it – is a great way to ensure that your home interiors not only look fabulous, but that they help you feel it too,’ says Catharina Björkman, style expert at Contura. ‘An accessible way to do this is to fill your home with houseplants. They add a vibrant pop of colour to any room and have also been linked to numerous health benefits such as reducing stress and improving air quality.’

Relevant searches reflect the growing interest:

  • Chaos gardening (+300 per cent increase in searches)
  • Solarpunk house (+80)
  • Self-sufficient garden (+55)
  • Community spaces (+40)

According to Pinterest’s report, modern surrealism will redefine tablescapes and home decor, with curvy candlesticks, fantastical flowers, and gravity-defying centrepieces taking centre stage. ‘Surrealist elements bring a sense of whimsy and surprise to your home. Think asymmetrical tableware, unexpected floral designs and bold shapes to create memorable settings,’ says Tom.

In 2025, ‘more is more’ will be the mantra for home decor, with eclectic maximalism making a major presence in interiors. It’s the perfect decorating style to embrace expressive, fun and functional spaces. Pile on the patterns, mix textures, and let your creativity run wild – the bolder, the better!

‘The trend works just as well in small spaces,’ says Catharina. ‘Create drama in a bathroom by painting it a very deep navy or burgundy and mixing in luxe elements such as gold handles, taps, and light sconces. Add interest by creating wall panelling using MDF strips and fill in the space with a bright floral or nature-inspired patterned wallpaper on a dark background to match the room’s paint colour.’

  • Eclectic apartment (+630 per cent increase in searches)
  • Vintage maximalism (+260)
  • Eclectic maximalism (+215)
  • Eclectic boho bedroom (+65)

Medieval styles are officially in. For Pinterest’s Castlecore trend, expect to see interiors inspired by ancient castles complete with rich velvet textures, arched mirrors, dramatic lighting, and intricate details. How to nail it? ‘Add accents in stone or metal finishes, and a bold focal point – like a grand fireplace or tapestry – to bring a regal, castle-like feel to your home while keeping it practical for modern living,’ advises Tom.

Here are the notable search trends…

  • Medieval core (+110 per cent increase in searches)
  • Castle house plans (+45)

Miniatures are having a major moment in 2025. From doll’s house-inspired rooms to doll-like accessories, it’s all about adding a whimsical touch to spaces, with a celebration of all things cute and tiny. To join in on the trend, incorporate tiny vases, mini lamps, or scaled-down accessories.

‘Inspired by recent pop culture moments, the doll’s house is having a revival,’ says Catharina. ‘Tapping into a sense of fun and playfulness, the emphasis is on upbeat colours in soft, pastel tones. Unusual or overtly stylised items are also perfect for this design trend.’
