7 Target Buys That Are Designer-Approved

We aren’t the only ones who are suckers for Jungalow’s graphic bath towels or John Derian’s quirky melamine ware at Target. Designers are just as obsessed with the big-box store, especially when they’re wrapping up a big project and are ready to layer on the finishing touches. Kudzi Chikumbu, the creative behind Sir Candle Man, loves Target’s $6 Everspring Cedar and Balsam candle. Brooklyn-based designer Danielle Fennoy can’t stop thinking about the limited-edition Isaac Mizrahi coffee table she scooped up years ago. And just about every pro we’ve talked to has shopped Studio McGee’s Threshold collection at one point or another.

No one is more in the know than they are, but there are a few memorable purchases that stand out. So we asked them: What is the best thing you ever bought at Target? Here’s what they had to say.

I know recommending faux plants can be controversial for a designer, but I recently purchased a great faux tree for my bedroom at Target. The room is so dark, and the touch of greenery adds warmth to a space that wouldn’t be suitable for the real thing. I also love everything from Studio McGee at Target. I have had my eye on this piece of furniture for a project. —Amber Sokolowski, founder of Soko Design
